Small office vs. big office..

This has been the long standing debate since the smaller independent companies got gobbled up by big industry.  Most of the real estate franchises are all owned by the same company-ERA, C-21, Coldwell Banker- the same conglomerate.

In the 23+ years that I have been a local Realtor, I have worked for both big companies and small companies alike.

In many practices-law offices, health care providers, etc. there are often associations of professionals in one location. Your primary care provider doesn't change week to week right. Even thought there may be 70 doctors in an HMO, you usually deal with one person right?? The same is true for real estate.

So what are you really getting when you hire a brokerage professional. I think it is vastly similar to what you find in the legal profession, commodities world, etc. You basically have a single person providing personalized services.

Real Estate offices aren't run like they used to be. Brokers or agents are directly responsible for helping their own clients and no one helps someone else's clients except to cover during honeymoons.

For clients to come away thinking that all the other brokers in an office were collectively working to help them is misleading.   Agents and brokers have individual or shared secretaries or personal assistants who normally handle routine matters for them.  Long gone are the days when Realtors had weekly meetings to discuss or share or brainstorm about specific needs of the clients of the member associates.

If a Realtor pitches you that there are all these other brokers in their office that are sweating over your file, you'll know you are just being snowed.

If you want experience, expertise, and good sound counsel, you can find it in any company whether large or small.  We don't think there is anything wrong with large associations of agents in one firm. Our angle is for a more focussed approach for our clients.  We think there is indeed a valuable difference to our clients.
